Hi, everyone!
Grandma and Grandpa and I spent the long Fourth of July holiday at Sodus. Right after we left Fairport on Wednesday afternoon, there was lots and lots of rain there! At Sodus, the rain stopped in time for the fireworks display at Sodus Point. We had storm-pretty sunsets on the Fourth of July and the day after. Lots of people around the bay had their own fireworks displays those nights, and the fireflies were out, too! Grandma let me stay up to watch them from the porch, but she couldn’t get a picture of me and the fireworks at the same time!
On Friday, we had lots of company come! Uncle Steven and Aunt Kara and James came in the morning. James gave me a hug right away! Last time James was here, he was just learning to roll over. Now he can creep and cruise and he is beginning to walk. He is very fast! Grandma and Grandpa had to move the furniture around to keep him out of trouble! Then, right before dinnertime, Moose-san came out with Joe-san and Nancy-san! Nancy-san and Grandma were planning to weed water chestnuts out of the bay with some other people on Saturday morning, and Moose-san was looking forward to having some nice fresh water weeds to eat!
On Saturday morning, we all ate breakfast on the porch. Then Grandma and Nancy-san went out in the kayaks to pull weeds in Clark Creek. Moose-san and I wanted to go too, but Grandma said the kayaks get muddy and buggy from the weeds. Uncle Steven and I took James for a ride on the swing, instead. When Grandma and Nancy-san got back, they brought a nice fresh water chestnut weed for Moose-san to eat! Moose-san said it was yummy, so James wanted to try some, too! Then James had another ride on the swing with Nancy-san. James loves swinging!
Guess what? Then we had MORE company! Annie and her parents came out to spend the afternoon! It’s a good thing James brought his lion from home, so there were enough of us lions to go around! Annie loves rides on the swing, too!
For once, we had a whole afternoon without any rain! Uncle Steven invited Annie’s family to go for a boat ride to enjoy the sunshine. I was a good helper and showed Annie and James how to put on their life jackets before they got in the boat.
We all had dinner on the porch, then it was Annie’s bedtime and she had to go home. James and I said goodbye to Annie before she left. Joe-san and Nancy-san and Moose-san left, too! It wasn’t quite time for James to go to bed, so we played his favorite game on the iPad until it was time for his bath.
After breakfast this morning, it was time for Uncle Steven and Aunt Kara to take James back home. Grandpa and I gave him a goodbye hug. Grandma gave him another ride on the swing while Uncle Steven packed the car. I’m glad James has his lion to keep him company on the drive home!
This was a great holiday!
Love,
Lion-san

We had fun seeing James , Uncle Steven, Aunt Kara, Grandma, Grandpa and you Lion-san! The weeds were really good! It was fun meeting Vicky, Aaron and Annie too. I’m back home now and can still taste those yummy weeds. Have a fun week and we look forward to seeing you next Friday!
Dear Lion-san,
I finally had time this morning to catch up with your 2013 summer. I love seeing you and your friends, especially the littlest ones! I am especially happy that James now has his own lion. Is that lion a relative? Also, it is sweet to see baby Annie.
I guess the beautiful sunsets make it worth it to have rain. Your Grandma sure gets some beautiful pictures.
Stay cool.
Your friend,
Julie
