Baby James!

Hi, everyone!
Grandma and Grandpa took me to Virginia to meet baby James! When we got to Uncle Steven and Aunt Kara’s house, James was waiting for us at the door. Grandma introduced us and we were friends right away! We brought some pieces for James’ crib, so Uncle Steven could put it together. I made sure the crib was safe for James. Then I kept James company while he was having his diaper changed. Can you read what it says on his shirt? It says “Diaper Loading …. Please Wait” with a software progress bar icon!

Grandma did a lot of cooking while we were visiting Aunt Kara, Uncle Steven and James. New babies make mommies and daddies very busy, so Grandma made a lot of extra food for Aunt Kara and Uncle Steven to eat when they don’t have enough time to cook for themselves. I helped make sticky buns for breakfast, and a limoncello cheesecake for dessert, and a big pot of spicy Mexican peanut soup for lunch. Now Uncle Steven and Aunt Kara’s freezer is full of yummy soup and chili and stew and risotto and pulled pork and sticky buns, and there’s even a whole coffee cheesecake in there!

Every day, we could see changes in James. He was staying awake longer, so we could find out what he likes to do besides eating and sleeping. He loves lying on the blanket he got from our friends, Joan-san and Ron-san. Aunt Kara calls it the “magic blanket” because James is so content when he is on it! Most of the time, James enjoys going out in his stroller for a walk around the neighborhood. James likes his play mat and he even turned himself over on it during “tummy time” the night before we left! The same evening, Uncle Steven and James played the video game Journey. I think Uncle Steven did most of the playing and James did most of the watching!

Last Saturday, James went on his very first outing, to Meadowlark Botanical Gardens in Vienna VA. That’s a very pretty place, and the weather was perfect for being outside.

Babies sleep a lot, but sometimes they need help going to sleep or staying asleep. I was a good helper for James, sitting next to his Moses basket and infant seat and keeping him company while Grandma and Grandpa and his parents all helped him sleep. Helping James take a nap is hard work!

When it was time to leave at the end of our visit, Grandma and Grandpa and I all thought James had changed a lot during our stay. Little babies are like that! I can’t wait to see what new things James will be able to do next time I see him!

Love,
Lion-san

  1. very cute pictures and you were a very helpful Lion. It has finally stopped raining down here, the sun is out and hopefully we will see James soon. We can see he has changed just from the pictures!
