On Ground Hog Day, I went outside as soon as I got up to see if I had a shadow.  I didn’t!  So even though it was very cold and snowy, I was happy that spring would come early.  Then, when I went inside, the sun came out and I had a great, long shadow!  Continue reading “Finding Warm!”

The weather is still going back and forth between warm and cold!   It was warm enough that Grandma and I started pruning the apple trees in Fairport.  Even though we pruned all the apple trees last year, there was still a lot of pruning to do!  We got two and a half trees pruned before it got cold again!  Continue reading “…and Thaw and Freeze and Thaw …”

The January weather has gone back and forth between well below freezing to enough above freezing to melt everything!  Right after New Years, we had enough cold weather so that Sodus Bay froze over.  Grandma wasn’t sure how thick the ice was, so we just looked at the frozen bay from the dock. I had a lot of adventures around Christmas and New Years! Two days before Christmas, Grandma and Grandpa and I hosted our annual stollen party. The day before Karin-chan’s shichi-go-san ceremony, Grandma and Grandpa and Joe-san and Nancy-san took Moose-san and me for a walk around Shinjuku.  We went to the Municipal Government Building, where there’s an observatory in each of the towers of Building One.  It’s not as high up as Skytree, but it’s free to visit!  Continue reading “Three Rituals and a Return”

Hi, everyone!

Tuesday, after the earthquake, we met Uncle David and Aunt Emi in the lobby of our hotel.  It is on the 20th floor of the building and has big windows to see around the city! Joe-san wanted to go to Kappabashi-dori to look for cooking equipment, so that’s where we went first.  We had to take a train and two subway lines to get there!  Continue reading “More Japan Adventures!”

Hi, everyone!

Moose-san and I are on a big adventure with Grandma and Grandpa and Joe-san and Nancy-san.  We are in Japan visiting Uncle David’s family!  The flight from O’Hare to Narita was thirteen hours long, and then we took a bus to Tama Center.  The rush hour traffic was heavy in Tokyo, so that bus ride was another three and a half hours.  We were really tired when Uncle David’s family met us at the bus stop!  Our hotel was right across the street from the bus stop and Bill-kun and Karin-chan helped us check in.
