Hi, everyone!
Last week was cold enough that the bay was completely frozen and ice fishermen were out! Grandpa decided it was time to drain the plumbing for the winter so the pipes don’t freeze in the cold weather. Then it was time to take the Ground Hog Day cookies to the post office. I was a good helper getting them there and helping hand in the customs form that matched each box! I hope the people who get them like eating them!
Grandma and Grandpa got me up very early on Saturday! Grandma put on my special travelling good luck shirt and Joe-san drove us to the airport before the sun came up! Our flight was on an airline that uses the other half of the airport, so I got to make a new airplane friend in the play area. Then we took a flight to Chicago and got there while it was still dark. After that, we flew to Los Angeles and then to Papeete Tahiti! It was a very long day! The flight from Los Angeles to Tahiti took eight hours! Can you see how tired I was by the time we got there?
It was raining hard when we got to Tahiti and it was still sprinkling when we got to the port. We’re going on a cruise on Oceania MS Marina! First we had to check in, then we went to our cabin. The ship moored next to us in the port was the Dutch ship Amsterdam. I was excited to see a ship named for a place I’ve been! Grandma and Grandpa had to go to a safety briefing at 11:15 p.m. local time. That’s about 24 hours since we got up to start our trip, so I was glad I could go right to bed, instead!
This morning, when I got up, there was a different island outside our balcony. It turned out to be Moorea, but it didn’t look quite the same as the photo in the rain! We had another hard rainstorm during breakfast and the water around Moorea is all muddy! We were supposed to go on a snorkel trip today, but I don’t think that’s going to happen! Right now, the Moorea port is closed because of flooding and trees down from the storm, so we can’t even go ashore to visit.
I hope the rain stops soon!
Love,
Lion-san
The bay looked cold! You looked very tired when Grandma and Grandpa went to the lecture. I hope they were at least awake enough to listen to the lecture! We hope it stops raining for you also. It is cold and snowy here. It looks from Grandma’s itinerary that you could be swimming with the sharks so Moose-san said to be careful but have a good time!
