Equinox Report

Hi, everyone!

Today is the fall equinox, when the day and night are the same length.  That’s the official end of summer! I knew fall was coming! Right after we got back from our trip, we went to the Point to watch the sun set over the lake for the very last time this year.  It will be spring before the sunset moves that far north again!

Grandma and Grandpa have been busy, so most of my adventures have been cooking ones.  Uncle Steven’s family used up the cheesecake in the freezer for a gathering of Aunt Kara’s family.  Grandma promised to have one available for the end of Covid party, so she and I needed to make another one! I liked the way my marbling design came out.  I was happy it baked without cracking!

Last Friday, Grandma invited Uncle Steven’s family for a homemade pizza dinner.  I made sure Grandma made all the toppings everybody likes!  We had a nice dinner before James and Thomas needed to leave for their taekwando class!

Saturday morning, Uncle Steven texted that Thomas had tested positive for Covid.  Sunday morning, Uncle Steven texted that he had Covid, too!  I guess that means James won’t be having an end of Covid party very soon!  Grandma and I made a fresh batch of goat cheese biscuits for Thomas as a get well gift!  Because we all were exposed to Thomas on Friday, we’ve been staying away from other people.  Grandma put a box on my front window watching chair.  The impatiens are tall enough I needed to be higher to see out!  Grandma has started putting coffee grounds on them so they don’t get eaten down like last year!  I have a good view of the rainy days we’ve had this week!

Grandma and Grandpa haven’t gotten sick, so today we drove out to Sodus.  First, we stopped at Youngman’s Orchard Farm Market.  They were just opening for the week and I made lots of friends!  We got apples for Joe-san and Nancy-san and for Uncle Steven’s family.

Grandpa has been at work installing a power opener for the new boathouse door.  Today, he wanted to finish wiring in a control to operate the door.  He let me use the temporary battery-operated remote to open the door.  The door opens very nicely!  I helped Grandma straighten out the wire Grandpa needed to finish his project.

The water in the bay is getting even lower!  And I’m starting to see colored leaves falling!  Boating is definitely over for the season!

Love,

Lion-san
