A Snowy Weekend!

Hi, everyone!
The wet snow we had at Thanksgiving all melted off the next week. But now we’re having very cold weather and lots of new snow! The lights on the apple trees look really nice in the snow!

There was lake effect snow predicted for Friday night and Saturday morning so Grandma and Grandpa decided not to go to the bay to stay. But on Friday we did all go out in the snowstorm to get our Christmas tree. I had to explain to EUS why we were getting a tree that we were going to put up in the living room! It didn’t take us long to find a nice tree at the tree farm, and EUS and I made sure it was exactly the right size! After we helped Grandpa pay for the tree, I showed EUS how the tree goes through the baler, so we can bring it home. After it was baled, Grandma and Grandpa put it in Grandma’s car. It just fit! EUS and I got to ride home with the tree. It’s sitting in the garage now, until Uncle Steven comes to start decorating it.

Because of the steady snow, Grandma and Grandpa stayed in and worked on inside projects. EUS and I helped Grandma finish writing all the Christmas cards on her list. Then I showed EUS where Grandma keeps all the wrapped presents. I hope EUS can keep a secret! When we went to visit Grandma’s brother and sister-in-law in September, we brought back all the family photo albums. This weekend, Grandpa started scanning each page and Grandma has been adding captions to the electronic files. I found pictures of lots of people I know, like cousin Bev!

A week or so ago, EUS and I helped seal up the package going to Japan that Kitty-san was in. I was worried whether he would get there safely or not. Yesterday, Bill-kun and Karin-chan Skyped us from Japan. I got to hear both of them play songs on their new piano, then Kitty-san joined the conversation! Kitty-san and Original Lion-san got to be friends right away!

Today, we had a break in between snow storms. I got to go outside and see how much snow was on the deck. There’s almost a foot now! Then I helped Grandma and Grandpa brush snow off the roof so we don’t get big icicles hanging from the eaves. The icicles are pretty, but Grandma says the backed up water that makes them also hurts the ceilings inside. After that I checked out the snow cave under the picnic table and the herb pots! I hope James will enjoy playing in the snow when he comes for Christmas!

Grandma and Grandpa decided to spend tonight at Sodus, since there isn’t supposed to be much more snow until tomorrow afternoon. They had to dig out a parking space on Bridger Lane and make a path in the snow to walk in. There’s about a foot of snow here, too! And it’s been so cold that it looks like the bay is frozen over!

Who knew that lions could have so much fun with snow?
Love,
Lion-san

  1. Nancy-san really liked the snow. It is nice that you both have something to wear in the snow. It looks like you all picked out a really nice tree.
