Hi, everyone!
When we got back, it was still cold outside! We even had more snow! But there were some sunny days, too.
One day, I sat in my sunbeam and got toasty warm. Then I helped Grandma make an AWACs cheesecake. That went into the freezer!

Then we had a night of freezing rain! When I got up, there was ice on all the tree branches. That day, it got even warmer and the ice on the trees and a lot of the snow on the ground melted!

Grandma took me outside to look for signs of spring. Our sugar maple was leaking sap and the snow drops were starting to bloom. Day lily sprouts were poking up behind the house and so were the daffodils on the south side of the house. Some years, I’ve seen crocus in bloom by now, but not this year!

The end of last week, we had temperatures into the 70s and broke records for warmest day. Grandpa could see that the snow was gone at the bay from his web cameras, so we drove out on Sunday. There was still ice on the bay! We had a pretty sunrise Monday morning.

Do you remember the big branch that fell against the deck last fall? It turns out part of it broke off, landed on our roof and put a hole in the shingles! Monday was the first day the repair crew could get in to fix the roof. They threw the branch down for me to see. Then Grandma took me down to the water to see the ice up close. It was starting to melt near the shore, but I couldn’t see any open water anywhere else! I said hello to my primrose friend before we came back to town.

Today it’s cooler and raining. I can see my snowdrop friends are in full bloom, but it’s too wet to go out to say hello. Inside, I’m waiting for a new flower friend. The Christmas cactus plant that Grandma started from a single leaf has two flower buds on it! I don’t know how it got confused about the seasons, since that kind of cactus usually blooms between Thanksgiving and Christmas. These are the first two flower buds ever, so I’ll be happy to see them anyway!

Love,
Lion-san
