Hi, everyone!
How do you like the new look of my blog? Uncle David moved it to a new server and Grandma and I have a new editor to use!
Since we got back from Colorado, we’ve had a lot of rainy days and reasons we couldn’t get out to the bay. It was time to haul the dock sections out of the water!
Two weeks ago, the weather forecast for Wednesday and Thursday looked like good weather for doing that. Grandma and Grandpa took me out to the bay on Tuesday night. Uncle Steven came out as soon as the sun was up on Wednesday, and Aunt Kara followed him out as soon as James and Thomas went to school! First, Uncle Steven and Grandma brought the kayaks upstairs. Then they and Grandpa hauled the marine railway rails out of the water. They were done with that before Aunt Kara arrived! Grandma scrubbed the kayaks clean, and I dried them off.
By the time Grandma and I had the kayaks ready to go inside, Grandpa and Uncle Steven and Aunt Kara had most of the dock taken in already! They stacked the support sections beside the boathouse and stacked the deck sections inside. The entire job was done by 10:30 a.m.! We all went back into town after lunch.
The next day, Grandma and I did a lot of cooking! First, we made cinnamon ice cream for a church dinner group meeting on Saturday. Then we made dinner for a church family where somebody was recovering from surgery. We used the egg whites left over from the cinnamon ice cream to make sticky flourless chocolate cookies for their dessert. They said the cookies were to die for! Some of the ice cream was left after dinner group. It was yummy!
The next Monday was dry. More of our leaves had turned color and some of them were down. Grandma and Grandpa cleared all the leaves from the back yard. They made me another nice leaf pile along the road!
Grandpa has finished his basement wall project! All the pipes and wires are reattached and there’s a nice place for another set of shelves. Grandma painted the window frame with the leftover paint from the boathouse windows at Sodus.
Last Thursday we had another sunny day! Grandma took me for a walk around the street to see the fall colors on the foliage. The trees were very pretty!
When we got back from our walk, Grandma and Grandpa cleared the leaves from the back yard again! My leaf pile is really getting big!
Last Sunday, we went back out to the bay. It was cloudy and rainy, so I stayed inside! Grandma cleared some of the deepest piles of fallen leaves while Grandpa got the powerboat ready for winter. There are still lots of leaves on the trees at both the bay and in Fairport, so we’re not done clearing yet!
Yesterday was Halloween! We didn’t get many trick or treaters, but I dressed up to greet them. I had help, too! The furry blue monster was actually a butternut squash in disguise!
This morning when I got up, there was a little snow on the back deck! It’s melted now, and more leaves are falling. Around here, we never know what falls first — the last of the leaves or the first snow that sticks!
Love,
Lion-san
