Adjusting to Summer!

Hi, everyone!

There have been a lot of changes since my last blog but not many adventures!  The church choir that Grandma directs doesn’t sing in July and August, so we’ve had the last Sunday mornings we have to be in town for a while.  Aunt Kara went away for a week and school ended for James and Thomas while she was gone.  Right after school was over, Uncle Steven brought James and Thomas out to the bay to stay on Friday night.  Of course there were video games after dinner!  On Saturday morning, the bay was calm enough that Uncle Steven and Grandpa could put the marine railway in the water.  James watched You Tube tips for programming his own video game and Thomas made a fort in the loft.  When James and Thomas heard that the powerboat was in the water, they were quick to get ready for a ride!  James, Thomas and Uncle Steven had to leave right after lunch so the boat went back in the boathouse right after the ride.  Meanwhile, Thomas found an interesting section of rock in the armor stone by the shore.

Grandma and Grandpa took me back out to the bay Sunday afternoon.  There’s been a lot of haze and smoke from forest fires in Canada, so the setting sun was really red!

Back in Fairport, Grandma and Grandpa both had projects!  Grandpa is fixing a leak between the back deck and the foundation of the house.  He had to remove part of the decking to get to the problem!  Grandma was working on a jigsaw puzzle Aunt Kara loaned her.  It was very big with a complicated pattern!  Grandma told me she had to use all her jigsaw solving strategies to get it done.  She let me put the last piece in!

Last weekend, Uncle Steven took James and Thomas out to Sodus again on Friday for another overnight.  Grandma and I made a batch of overnight rising sticky buns for Saturday morning breakfast.  They were yummy!

Uncle Steven took the third kayak down to the boathouse so Grandma could take James and Thomas out.  They are fast and strong paddlers!  It started to rain lightly, so they came back for more indoor time.  Aunt Kara was coming back from her trip Saturday night, so we all went back into town.  Grandpa stayed with James and Thomas while Uncle Steven picked up Aunt Kara at the airport. That was past everybody’s bedtime!  When we make sticky buns, the recipe fills two pans.  Grandpa took the second pan over to Uncle Steven’s house, so they could have fresh-baked sticky buns on Sunday morning.

Grandma and Grandpa and I went back to the bay Sunday evening.  There were rain clouds to the west, so we couldn’t see the sun set.  The clouds in the eastern sky were pretty!  Grandma’s kayak trip on Monday morning involved weeding water chestnuts, so I couldn’t go along.  There were lots of swans to keep her company!   It started raining after lunch, so we drove back to Fairport.  There were areas with heavy rain and some with no rain at all!

Now that Uncle Steven is spending more time at the bay, the supply of party mix in the freezer there is getting low.  Grandma decided to make enough party mix to use up four new boxes of cereal.  I helped!  Do you think this will be enough for the entire summer?

The weather system that brought us rain over the weekend moved in a direction that is blowing forest fire smoke from Canada our way again.  It was smoky last night!  I hope the weekend is better!

Love,

Lion-san
