Hi, everyone!
It’s officially fall today, but we’ve been having very nice summer weather for the last week! Today is cloudy and rainy, but the temperature has been in the mid-70 degrees F. Grandma and Grandpa’s wedding anniversary was two weeks ago, but they didn’t do anything special that day. Later in the week, Grandma said that she felt like inviting Uncle Steven’s family over and sending out for pizza to celebrate. After dinner, Thomas found the Lego motor he’s been looking for! Grandpa and Uncle Steven are both electrical engineers, so they were able to help him get it working! Then James, Thomas and I watched a Minecraft video on Youtube. Just before he went home, Thomas rode all the way up and down the street on his bicycle — with no training wheels!
Last Friday, when we went out to the bay, we got a surprise! The tree people had already started work taking down the big tree next to the kitchen! Grandpa and Grandma had been hoping the tree people would come during the nice week of dry weather, but hadn’t heard whether or not that would happen. The tree people said they’d need at least two days to take down that tree. So far, they’ve only taken off the big branches hanging over the house. They left the plywood on the ground that keeps the boom truck from making big ruts in the lawn, but they took the truck with them for the weekend.
Tilly and Moose-san came out with Joe-san and Nancy-san to spend Friday night with us. We all helped on the jigsaw puzzle they brought out. On Saturday, Tilly and Moose-san and I decided to keep working on the puzzle while Grandma and Grandpa and Joe-san and Nancy-san took a ride in the motorboat.
The pumpkin season has started at Powers Farm Market! Grandma wanted to stop to buy a peach there on Sunday, but the parking lot was too crowded with pumpkin pickers to get in! This morning, when it was cloudy and starting to rain, Grandma said we’d be able to buy the peach and visit the pumpkins. She was right! It wasn’t crowded at all! I got a chance to make some pumpkin friends and see the hayride tractor.
After we went to Powers Farm Market, Grandma took me to Schutt’s Apple Mill, too! My pie-making buddy from church works there on Mondays. I liked the checkers set by the fireplace! Schutt’s grows and sells a lot of varieties of apples! I watched the staff getting them ready to sell. I got to make a lot of different apple friends! There’s a big window where you can watch the cider press. Nobody was making cider today, but Grandma says we can go back to watch some other time. My buddy gave us a sample of apple freeze. That’s a mixture of vanilla ice cream and apple cider. We’re going to have some on apple pie for dinner tonight!
Love,
Lion-san
Besides what you saw at Sodus Bay you saw Powers Farm Market and Schutt’s Apple Mill. We liked all the pumpkins and all the apples.
