Hi, everyone!
This week I’m in Europe with James and Thomas! Their mommy and daddy were taking them to German Legoland before they move back to the United States. They invited Grandma and Grandpa and me to join them! So we flew to Munich overnight last Wednesday and met them at a very nice place to stay in Limbach Bavaria. Grandma said it was thoughtfully planned for families with children. There were bunk beds and a little table and chairs. Breakfast came on a tray so we could eat in our room. We had a little kitchen to keep the leftovers and make supper!
We spent two days at Legoland. On Friday, we got there before the main gates opened! Once we got in, we made friends with some Lego model tourists sitting on a bench. I got to meet one of the Lego Pirate characters, too!
The first part of the park we went to was Lego City. At the harbor, James and Thomas took boat rides with their mommy and daddy. I made friends with a shark! Then James and Thomas and their daddy flew airplanes at the airport.
The Lego Discovery Center I went to with Bill and Karin in Tokyo had a room with models of Japanese landmarks. Legoland Deutschland has a whole outdoor field of models of European landmarks in Miniland! I liked all of them and especially the models of places I’ve been before, like Paris and the Rhine river and the Dutch windmills. Thomas recognized the covered bridge in Lucerne Switzerland, because he had just been there!
The biggest Miniland model is Allianz Arena in Munich. There are over one million Lego bricks in it, with thirty thousand minifigures as spectators! There’s a new section of Star War models, too! Thomas dueled Darth Vader while R2D2 and I watched!
Next we walked through Adventure Land. I made some interesting new friends there! I’m always especially happy to find another lion cousin when I’m traveling!
James’ and Thomas’ daddy knew there was a very special ride in the Kingdom of the Pharaohs, so we stopped to rest and have a snack before we went there. On the Temple Adventure ride, everybody gets a flashlight gun to shoot at lights in the temple scenes. When you hit one, you score points, just like a video game! There weren’t many visitors at the park, so we got to go on the ride twice! After that, James and Thomas and I climbed the pyramid in the Pharaoh’s playground.
Next, we went to Ninjago World. I made friends with Master Wu right away! Ninjago World has a 3-D image ride where you score points by doing ninja moves during battles. We got right in, but when the park has lots of visitors there are long waiting lines. Adults have to stand in the waiting line, but children can build with Legos while they wait, then join their parents as the line moves them forward. The playground in Ninjago World is a big pit full of Duplos. James and Thomas both built big towers there!
While we were at Ninjago World, Grandma saw some pedal cars on a track overhead. James and Thomas and their mommy and I went with her to ride in a Tret-O-Mobil car. Thomas wanted to help Grandma pedal! I think the cars move whether you pedal or not, but it was fun to pretend to be in charge! After that, we were all ready for something cold. James and Thomas had ice cream cones, and I got some of Grandma and Grandpa’s iced chocolate!
We had our snack in Knights’ Land, right next to the Dragon roller coaster. James was tall enough to ride on the Dragon coaster with his daddy. While they were waiting to get on, Thomas went riding on the Knights’ Joust. I made friends with the blacksmith! That was James’ first ride on a roller coaster, and he really liked it!
We were almost back to Lego City, so we took the train ride next. The track circles Lego City and Miniland. I made some sheep friends that can only be seen from the train!
Our last stop on our first day at Legoland was the factory where they actually make Lego bricks! It was interesting to see the machines working. I especially liked watching the machine that prints the special labels on the factory tour souvenir Lego blocks.
Because we didn’t have to wait in many lines at Legoland on Friday, we saw most of the parts of park we had planned to see. On Saturday morning, we checked the map to find out what was left to see. We knew there would be more visitors in the park on Saturday than on Friday! We all wanted to do the Temple Expedition and Ninjago World rides again, so we went there first on Saturday. Guess what? James’ and Thomas’ mommy got the highest score on the Ninjago world ride, even beating their daddy! I made some more Ninjago friends, too!
James and Thomas spent some more time building in the Ninjago World Duplo pit, then we all went to the Ninjago movie in the theater. We had to wear special glasses to see the 3-D effects, just like we wore for the Ninjago ride. There was only a short waiting line for the Atlantis Aquarium, so we went there next. The submarine and divers were made out of Legos, but the fish were real!
We hadn’t been to Pirate Land yet, so we went there next. The Pirate playground is a big climbing house. Thomas went all the way to the top! It was warm enough for water play, so James and Thomas and their mommy and daddy shot water cannons at passing pirate ships. I decided I didn’t want to get wet and stayed with Grandma and Grandpa out of range!
James and Thomas ended the second day with trips to the Lego factory store to buy individual Lego bricks and the Lego main store to buy a new Lego set apiece. Then it was time to leave! On Sunday, we drove back to Brunssum Netherlands from Munich on the autobahns. James decided to ride with me in Grandma and Grandpa’s rental car. Some parts of the autobahn have no speed limits and sports cars passed us going very fast!
Love,
Lion-san
Hi
You must have had a fun trip to Lego Land. It looked like you had fun. We all liked the trip you took around Lego City, especially the sheep. No you can never have enough dragon friends!
