Hi, everyone!
On Ground Hog Day, I went outside as soon as I got up to see if I had a shadow. I didn’t! So even though it was very cold and snowy, I was happy that spring would come early. Then, when I went inside, the sun came out and I had a great, long shadow! Now I don’t know what to think about when spring is coming! Grandma says not to worry, because we won’t have to wait that long for warm weather either way.
It was cold and snowy when we went out to the bay on the Friday after Ground Hog Day, and we had to walk in from the road. I could see the ice on the bay had weak spots. Still, I was happy to have a blanket to sleep with that night! In the morning, I helped Grandma and Grandpa drain the plumbing for the season. We won’t be back out until spring comes, whether it’s early or late!
On Tuesday, we started on another adventure! We flew to Miami, Florida! Grandpa was worried about a big storm coming in that might delay or cancel our flight out of Rochester, but we got out before the storm arrived! When we got to Miami, it was warm and sunny!
We took two trains to get from the airport to our hotel, which was right on Miami Riverwalk. It was fun to take a walk down to Bayfront Park! I made some new friends and had some yummy passion fruit gelato. The boats and coconut palm trees reminded me of Hawaii!
The next morning, Grandma took me on a walk in the opposite direction, along the Miami River. I made some more new friends and saw the great big red M that marks the Metromover station!
Then guess what? We got on the MS Marina cruise ship! That’s the same ship I was on two years ago in the South Pacific! We had lunch in the Terrace Cafe while we were waiting for our room to be ready. I could see another cruise ship getting ready to leave the Port of Miami, too!
When it was time for the MS Marina to sail, there was a party with a band on the pool deck. Then I got to watch the tugboat pull the MS Marina away from the dock. The little tugboat had to turn MS Marina completely around so we could sail out the channel! The sun was setting and the moon was rising as we left Miami.
We have two days at sea before we reach our first port in Mexico, but there’s been lots to do on board. Grandma made me a special place to sleep in our cabin, and we take walks in the sunshine on the pool deck. The sea is very calm and MS Marina is cruising slowly, so there’s not much wake to watch. Afternoon tea is my favorite activity! I like the string quartet and the yummy treats!
This morning we were up to watch the sun rise from our cabin balcony. Grandma tried to arrange a Mascot Meetup, like on our last cruise, but nobody showed up. I guess I won’t meet any mascot friends on this trip, but I did find warm!
Love,
Lion-san
Hi!
We are glad that you went someplace warm, Tilly said she would like to join you. I like your new fish friend and your new seahourse friend. The crab friend didn’t look like a crab to me but maybe he is a different kind of crab than what I’m used to. Even if you don’t make new mascot friends you have made new friends. I’m glad you and Grandpa caught some rays on the ship after all the cold in Sodus!
Grandma Gamma. When do we go to your house? From james.
You can come any time your mommy and daddy can bring you!
