James and Thomas … and Karin and Bill!

Hi, everyone!

James really likes boats — building them out of Legos and riding in them!  The first Saturday after he got here, we went out to Sodus so he could take a ride in Grandpa’s boat.  Both he and Thomas got a chance to drive the boat with Grandpa’s help.  Grandma said they were the steering committee!  The weather was nice, so we had lunch on the porch.  Then Aunt Kara lined up all the Matchbox cars by color and James counted them all!

On Monday, James started going to Peacemakers in the morning.  Thomas was sad to see his mommy and brother go someplace without him, so Grandma and I took him for a walk on the street.  After that, we made party mix together to put in the freezer until Thomas’ daddy comes!  On Tuesday, James forgot to take his backpack to Peacemakers, so Grandma and Thomas and I took it to him.  Then we stopped at Perinton Park so Thomas could play on the playground.  He wanted to play on the big kids’ slide!  There are steps to go up one side, and a mountain to climb on the other!  Then we spent a lot of time on the little kids’ swings.  Grandma says Thomas is a swing zombie!

On Tuesday night, we really started getting ready for Bill-kun and Karin-chan to come!  James moved into his very own sleep cubby so Bill-kun and Karin-chan could have the bunk beds.  James has an air mattress and a sleeping bag and his own quiet space!  On Wednesday, I helped Grandma get pizzas ready to bake as soon as Grandpa picked up Bill-kun and Karin-chan and Uncle David at the airport.  We wanted to be sure they wouldn’t fall asleep before their dinners were ready, like they did last year!  James and Thomas watched a Little Bear video while they waited.  Our plan  worked!  Bill-kun and Karin-chan stayed awake through dinner and had some play time before everybody went to bed.  I got to spend some time with Original Lion-san and hitsuji-san, too!  Guess what?  Uncle David brought Grandma and Grandpa’s kindergarten blocks back from Japan for James and Thomas to have!

Now that Bill-kun and Karin-chan are here, James has some company playing Nintendo.  Bill-kun and Thomas play piano together.  Grandma wants to thin the fruit on one of the apple trees, so everybody takes turns picking the green apples they can reach and putting them in the bucket for the town to take away.

Last Friday Bill-kun and Karin-chan and Uncle David came  out to Sodus with Grandma and Grandpa and me.  Joe-san and Nancy-san came out, too!  Bill-kun and Karin-chan started swinging right away, and they go very high!  Then they started to work on a jigsaw puzzle with Nancy-san.  On Saturday morning, Grandma and Karin-chan took me and hitsuji-san for a kayak paddle, and Uncle David took Karin-chan sailing on the sunfish sailboat.  Saturday was Grandma and Grandpa’s big choir party, so I helped Grandma and Joe-san make lots of hamburger patties!

Aunt Kara and Thomas and James came out for the party, and so did lots of my choir friends.  LaVache came with her Grandma and Grandpa.  We made sure everybody knew where the appetizers were!  It was fun seeing lots of my choir friends again!  Karin-chan did more swinging, and she and Bill-kun helped James on the swing.  Grandma helped Thomas, because he needed very gentle pushes on a big-people swing.  After dinner, Uncle David built a campfire and we toasted marshmallows for s’mores!  We didn’t take a sunset cruise in the boat, but we could see the sunset from our dock.  It was very pretty!

James and Thomas went back to Fairport on Saturday night after the choir party, but Uncle David’s family and Joe-san and Nancy-san stayed over at Sodus.  On Sunday morning, we went swimming in the shallow part of Sodus Bay between the two points of land.  I shared my lifejacket with Original Lion-san and hitsuji-san so they could go in the boat, too!  Bill-kun and Karin-chan practiced using kick boards and swim noodles.  Just before we left, they had fun jumping into the water from the back of the boat!  We all came back into town later in the day.

This morning was the first day of camp for Bill-kun and Karin-chan and the second week of Peacemakers for James.  Everybody except Thomas had to be somewhere at 9 a.m., but Thomas was the first person to wake up!  We had a sleepy breakfast, but everybody had a good day — even with a rainstorm in the middle of it!

Love,

Lion-san

  1. It was nice that Bill-kun, Karin-chan, James and Thomas could all be there together. It was nice seeing them all. Nancy-san enjoyed the swimming. She has been swimming here too. Last night we had a terrible thunder storm. At least that’s what Nancy-san said because she doesn’t like them. The choir picnic was fun too. It was nice LaVache came too. Swinging is fun too.
