Hi, everyone! Last week I was very busy getting ready for James and Thomas and their mommy to come visit! First, Grandpa and I finished putting the railing on the back deck in Fairport. It looks very nice! We had to get that done so we could pick up all the tools Grandpa was using in the family room. Grandma said it wasn’t a good idea to let Thomas play with drills and saw blades!
Grandma was afraid the local strawberry harvest would be over before we got back from Europe, but it wasn’t! I’ve been helping Grandma get the local berries ready to serve. We’ve had five quarts of them since we’ve been back! At Sodus, I helped Grandma finish up the jigsaw puzzle she and Nancy-san and Moose-san started before we took our trip. Grandma didn’t think 1000 loose puzzle pieces would be a good Thomas toy, either!
The Sodus Point Fourth of July fireworks were scheduled for Sunday, July 3. The best place to see them is right from our dock! Some of our neighbors have their own fireworks displays, so there are explosions all around us. The weather was perfect for the show!
Aunt Kara and James and Thomas came on Tuesday. It’s a very long trip, especially for Thomas! James and Thomas were very tired when they got to Fairport, but they wanted to play with Legos right away! Grandma and Grandpa went over to Grandma Ginny’s to get some air mattresses and sleeping bags, so there would be enough sleeping spaces to go around when Bill and Karin and their daddy get here, too!
James’ and Thomas’ bodies need to get adjusted to being in this time zone, and they are waking up very early while that happens! Playing outside helps. It’s been very hot and dry here, so the sprinkler is fun for James and good for the lawn, too! Thomas didn’t like getting squirted in the face by the sprinkler and is just learning how to chase the spray around. He likes blowing bubbles with his mommy in the back yard.
While Thomas is getting over his jet lag, he’s starting his afternoon nap at 9 a.m.! That worked really well yesterday, because we could go to the Strong Museum for the entire afternoon! Grandma and I mostly stayed with Thomas, and Grandpa stayed with James. Thomas found lots of interesting things to do in Sesame Street and James really liked the new video game displays. There were even some he knew how to play! We took lunch along, then played until James and Thomas were tired. Of course, we had to pilot the helicopter and go for a ride on the carousel on our way out!
Today is a rainy day and James and Thomas are playing with their cousins on their mommy’s side of the family. I’m helping Grandma get a little ahead on cooking. Last week she was cooking for two, and this week it’s five and next week it will be eight! And the choir picnic is next week, too! It’s a good thing little lions don’t cry when they slice or cook onions!
Love,
Lion-san
We are glad you both got the puzzle done and you got local strawberries. The Strong Museum looks neat as did the fireworks. We really liked the color ones too! Running thru the sprinkler looks like great fun as does blowing lots of bubbles.
