Now That It’s Really Spring …

Hi, everyone!

Now that it has stopped snowing, I’m helping Grandma and Grandpa do some of the spring chores.  There’s lots to do out at Sodus, so I make sure to be ready to go when Grandma and Grandpa are headed there.  We’ve had some pretty sunrises, so we get up early!

The water level is really high at the bay!  There was a big storm on Lake Ontario and the waves and high water caused a lot of damage.  We found somebody else’s dock sections stranded in front of our place!  When we went to the Point to watch sunset for the first time this year, we could see storm damage on the beach, too!

Last week, we raked most of the lawn at Sodus.  I was a good helper picking up the branches and dry leaves!  Grandpa brought some stone out to put in the driveway where the dead tree was cut down last fall.  I helped make sure the stones were spread evenly.  While we were working outside, we saw five big birds fly overhead.  Grandma said that was too many together to be eagles and that they were most likely turkey vultures.  She was right!  We saw them sitting on the shed behind the water tower at the end of the driveway.

Last weekend, Bill-kun and Karin-chan’s daddy went to a motorcycle track day at Ebisu Circuit in Fukushima, Japan.  He was there on Saturday morning, but that’s Friday night in Rochester!  Grandma figured out how to access the live cameras from the track on the internet.  I got to watch him ride around the hairpin turn half a world away!

Back in Fairport, we’re getting things done, too!  Our neighbors came to pick up the pieces of the oak branch that came down last fall.  The sections were so big they decided to bring their log splitter down to cut it down into firewood sizes right away.  It was fun to watch the splitter, but it’s noisy!

On Thursday, Grandma took me back to Highland Park!  We were hoping to get some new photos of ground hogs, but none of my ground hog friends wanted to pose.  We did see the gardeners planting the pansy bed and some of the flowering trees were already blossoming.

Most of the magnolias are just getting ready to bloom and the early tulips are blooming in the tulip bed!  When we went to the Poet’s Garden, we saw the volunteer gardeners weeding.  I helped one of the gardeners and made sure I thanked all of them for keeping the garden so nice!

Grandma is working hard to fix my blog!  All my books are posted again, but she is still putting photos back into my posts.  She’s working backward and has fixed the most recent two years of posts.  Picking out the right photos is hard, even when I help!

Love,

Lion-san

  1. It is nice that you helped clean up at Sodus Bay and then again at Highland Park. Sometimes the ground hogs like to take long naps on warm days. Hope you had ear protectors on when the log splitter was going otherwise you might not be able to hear Joe-san. That was great that you saw Uncle David go around the track that many miles away.
