Hi, everyone!
This week Grandma and Grandpa took me to Sodus Bay twice! We slept over on Sunday and again on Friday! The azaleas and rhododendron looked really nice on Monday morning, and the deciduous azaleas smelled good, too! I’m glad I got to see them at the height of their bloom. It’s nice to know that the plants can grow back, even when the deer eat them!
Grandma’s birthday was this week, and she had two parties! Joe-san and Nancy-san and Grandma and Grandpa went out for a fancy dinner on Thursday. Nancy-san brought Moose-san and Tilly along to sing Happy Birthday to Grandma, then Moose-san and Tilly and I had our own party. Too bad my MS Marina friend Robielyn wasn’t here to give us ideas for things to do while everybody else was at dinner!
Friday was Grandma’s real birthday, and she and Grandpa went out to dinner again in Sodus Point. Then we all went to the pier to watch the sunset. There were low clouds, so we couldn’t see the sun set into the water, but it was still a pretty sunset!
This morning, we had breakfast on the porch, then Grandma and I went kayaking. We paddled all the way around the south end of the bay! There was a big, old-fashioned sailboat moored at Oak Park marina, so we stopped to take a look. Even the mooring lines and bumpers match the color of the hull! Then we stopped to see the construction barge and tugboat that do shoreline work on the bay. James calls the iPad “Popeye”, but I don’t think it looks anything like this tug! The cottonwood trees are in bloom now, and the wind is blowing the cotton all over! Even the water in the bay is fuzzy right now!
After we got back from kayaking, Grandma and I worked on a brand new jigsaw puzzle. It’s easier than the ones we had going over the winter! Grandma says that James and Thomas and Bill-kun and Karin-chan will all be visiting us at the bay at one time this summer. I’m excited they’re all coming and started to think about where everybody will sleep. Do you think Karin-chan and Bill-kun would like to camp in the loft? They’re old enough to go up and down the ladder to get there, even if the first step is blocked off so Thomas doesn’t try to climb up. Who do you think should sleep in the blue bedroom?
We’ve had a lot of birthdays recently — James and Thomas and Grandma — and next month Uncle Steven and Grandpa and Uncle David have their birthdays, too. I asked Grandma when my birthday is coming. She said she doesn’t really know when my birthday is, so I could choose whatever day I wanted. Aunt Kara thinks June would be nice, or maybe March because that’s supposed to come in like a lion. What day do you think I should choose?
Love,
Lion-san
Moose-san and Tilly said they had a good time at your little birthday party for Grandma. It was a yummy dinner. They wouldn’t tell us what you did besides sing Happy Birthday. We liked the selfie! You take a good picture! How about a birthday for you on March 17. We could all remember when it is!
