Hi, everyone!
It’s getting closer and closer to Christmas! Last weekend, La Vache invited me to my first Christmas party of the season! Her grandma served lots of yummy appetizers and desserts. And guess what? Our book was at the party for all the other guests to read! I had a good time!
The town leaf patrol came for our big leaf pile! They used a special leaf scraper to pull the pile into the street, and then they picked it up with a loader and put it on a dump truck. While they were emptying the dump truck, I made friends with the scraper and the great big town truck. The big town truck already had one of its snow plows attached. That turned out to be a good thing, because it started snowing the very next day! I like how the apple tree lights look in the snow!
Once it started snowing, it kept on and on! The snow was so deep that Grandma had to borrow my boot to start shoveling! When she had enough of the snow shoveled, I got my boot back and went out to help. The snow piles were taller than me! The snow on the driveway had ice sheets on the bottom that came off in big pieces! There was even snow in the apple trees! Grandma and I brushed all the snow off Grandpa’s car and dug it out of the snow pile the plow left.
On Saturday, we went to get our Christmas tree. I helped Grandpa pick a nice one! I was a good helper with baling the tree and putting it in our car to go home. Then I helped Grandpa get the tree stand on the trunk, so we could stand the tree up in the living room. Grandpa let me cut the baling string and the branches opened back out!
This year, Grandpa put the lights on the tree. I helped him choose what colors of bulbs to put in the sockets. Then Grandma got out all the ornaments, but it was almost bedtime. I stayed with the tree overnight so it wouldn’t be lonely. On Sunday, I helped Grandma decorate the tree. I was happy to see my favorite moose ornament again! The last ornaments to go on the tree were the new ones Grandma got when we were traveling this year. When we were in Japan, Bill-kun and Karin-chan gave us some new ornaments from a trip they took to the southern part of Japan. I asked Grandma about them, and she didn’t know what they represented, either! I hope somebody will tell us all about them!
After the ornaments were all on the tree, I helped Grandma put the skirt around the stand and make the circle of jingle bells around the skirt. Doesn’t the tree look nice?
Love,
Lion-san
Your tree looks beautiful. You did a great job. It was nice of you to stay with the tree the first night so it wouldn’t get lonely. Moose-san is really getting excited about Christmas coming. That was a lot of snow we got, although I heard that you got more of it than we did! And now it is mostly gone! Moose-san and Nancy-san like snow but Joe-san doesn’t.
