Party Weekend!

Hi, everyone!
This was a party weekend! On Friday, Joe-san and Nancy-san and Moose-san came to visit me at the bay. Moose-san was really eager to find some aquatic weeds to eat, and he thinks water chestnuts are really tasty!

Friday evening, we all went to the pier to watch the sunset. It was cloudy, but still pretty. Then we watched the moon rise. It looked really big!

On Saturday morning, Grandma and Nancy-san and Moose-san and I went out in the kayaks to find some nice weeds for Moose-san. Moose-san is too little to wear a life jacket, so the life jacket has to wear Moose-san! We found lots of yummy water chestnuts for Moose-san! Grandma didn’t expect to find so many! We were careful not to bother the swan family with their little cygnets. It was nice and sunny, and the water lilies in the creek were pretty! Water chestnuts always grow near water lilies on the bay.

Saturday afternoon was the annual party for the church choir. I was a good helper! First, I helped Grandma and Joe-san make the hamburger patties. Then Moose-san and I got ready to greet the guests as they arrived. Lots of my buddies came! I made sure Moose-san got to meet everybody he didn’t already know. Grandpa grilled the hamburgers I helped make and they were really yummy!

Reverend Greg brought his watermelon cutter again, so we had another Parting of the Red Melon ceremony before dessert. I made sure to stay away from the sticky melon juice!

Today started out rainy, so Moose-san and I are sitting on the porch, watching the rain. Grandpa says it’s going to clear up later this afternoon. Maybe I’ll do some knitting while I wait!

Love,
Lion-san

  1. Thank you for the great weeds. They were yummy in my tummy. The party was fun too, seeing and meeting all those people. Did you finish whatever you were knitting, Lion-san?
