Still Waiting for Spring!

Hi, everyone!
Even though it’s supposed to be spring already, it’s still been cold here! The Christmas cactus keeps having more blossoms, and they are really pretty! Outside, the apple trees are still asleep because all the nights have been below freezing! There have only been a few days above freezing, and Grandma got out on those days to finish pruning the trees. Some days, there were big icy puddles around the trees as the snow cover melted. Look at all the branches Grandma took out of the trees! When Grandma was all done, I helped Grandpa cut up the branches and stack them for the town truck to pick up.

Last night, we had another winter storm! When I got up this morning, look what I saw! Grandpa’s snow gauge measures at least 8″ of new snow! Lots of people didn’t get to church this morning because the snow was too wet and heavy to shovel. The shrubs are all bent over again with snow. Grandma said that as long as we had to wait longer for spring, we might as well have some more winter fun. So we made another snow beast. This one is on the front of Grandpa’s car! It’s supposed to be a lot warmer tomorrow, so I think my snow beast will melt before Grandpa has to drive anywhere.

Love,
Lion-san

  1. Getting all the apple trees trimmed was a Big Job! You weren’t kidding it was a heavy snow! We shoveled our driveway but a plow truck helped us with the neighbors driveway. It is the neighbor that takes care of our garden while we are in Maine.
