Aloha from Kauai Again!

Hi, everyone!
Grandma and Grandpa told me to put on my aloha shirt, because we are going to Hawaii again! I got to see my ladybug friend at the Rochester airport before we got on our first flight. After our second flight, we were in Los Angeles, but we still had one more flight to go! It took all day, but we finally got to Kauai — exactly the same place we stayed two years ago!
We’re finally here on Kauai!

Saturday morning, we went to the Farmers’ market to get some special treats, because we have company coming! My travel buddies from the Canadian Rockies are coming: David-san and Julie-san and my special cow friend La Vache! I picked out some goat cheese with lilikoi, and a low acid pineapple and some roasted nuts with chocolate flavor. Then I stopped to see my friend Elvrine-san, the Heavenly Haku lady. She had a haku just the right size for La Vache! I tried it on to make sure!

Grandma found a special lei that was just the right size for La Vache, so I took it to the airport when we went to meet our company. On the ride back to where we’re staying, I told La Vache about all the things I want to take her to see. I’m excited to be able to show her everything I like here!

As soon as we arrived, I was a good helper and served a goat cheese and cracker snack to La Vache. Then Grandma made sticky buns to bake on Sunday morning for breakfast. We had a very pretty sunset because of the clouds! I almost forgot to give La Vache her haku! Doesn’t it look pretty on her?

Today, Sunday, is Ground Hog Day! La Vache and I got up to see the sunrise. It was clear here, so I guess the ground hog saw his shadow! We had Grandma’s sticky buns for breakfast. They were yummy!

After breakfast, we all took a walk to Shipwreck Beach to look for sea turtles and whales. La Vache was really excited to see them! There were three big sea turtles swimming around in the turtle cove, and we saw lots of whale spouts from Makahuena Point. Then I showed La Vache the place where surf comes under an arch in the rocks. Grandma made sure we didn’t fall in!

After our walk to Shipwreck Beach, we took another walk to Brennecke’s Beach and Poipu Beach to look for monk seals. There weren’t any on the beach today, but we did see some pretty flowers on our way back. La Vache and I were really tired by the time we got back up the stairs to where we’re staying, so we took a rest on the lanai.

When we were out walking, we saw a pizza delivery van. La Vache reminded me that today was also Super Bowl Sunday! Julie-san and David-san usually have a party on Super Bowl Sunday, but this year it’s just La Vache, Grandma, Grandpa, Julie-san, David-san and me!

Love,
Lion-san

  1. So you did watch the Super Bowl! It is nice that La Vache could visit you again and see all your favorite sites on Kauai. We could even see the turtle behind you and then Grandma got the picture! We are looking forward to seeing you and Moose-san is looking forward to tasting some Hawaiian aquatic weeds.
