Hi, everyone!
After Christmas, there was still more to celebrate! On New Years Eve, Moose-san and EUS and I got to stay up late to welcome the New Year. EUS decided that he wanted to start going on adventures with Grandma Sue-san, so I said goodbye before he left. Then a few days later, my friend Rudy invited me to a party at Papa Dick-san and Grandma Sue-san’s house. I had a good time seeing lots of my friends and listening to Rudy sing!
Grandma’s Christmas cactus started blooming in time for Christmas, but it has a lot more buds on it now! Grandma says Nancy-san showed her how to take better care of it. Aren’t the flowers pretty?
After New Years, Grandma waited a couple of days before she started to take the Christmas decorations down. I helped wind up the garland on the tree, and then I helped take the ornaments off and put them in the basket. Then Grandma put them all out on the table so we could start packing them up. There are a LOT of ornaments! When James went home, he left his woolly sheep ornaments on the Christmas tree! I made sure they were added to Grandma’s ornament spreadsheet, so we’ll remember next year that they belong to James!
After all the ornaments were off the tree, Grandpa took off the lights and I helped take the tree out of the stand. We were very careful, so the tree didn’t drip on the carpet at all! Then I helped wrap the tree up in the tarp, so Grandma and Grandpa could take it outside without leaving a trail of fir needles. We made a nice, tight bundle! Now all the decorations are packed back in their storage boxes and put away.
So far, the January weather has been very interesting! First, we had some very cold weather. Between the temperature and the wind, it was dangerous to go outside! We had some snow, but when it’s very cold, the snow is fluffy and doesn’t hold together when it is packed. The snow looks pretty, but it’s not much fun to play with. Finally, yesterday, it warmed up enough that I could play with the snow. Grandma helped me make a snowbeast! Do you think it looks like me? Today, it got even warmer and started to rain. Look what happened to my snowbeast!
Love,
Lion-san
Yes, your Christmas cactus flowers do look pretty. We got our house undecorated from Christmas and now have snowmen out. It was very cold but Joe-san minded it worse than Nancy-san! The snow beast didn’t look exactly like you, you look friendlier!
