Hi, everyone!
Last Friday Uncle Steven and Aunt Kara brought James out to Sodus for the weekend! James brought his lion, and we’re getting to be good friends! After lunch, we all took a ride to Burnap’s Farm Market. While Grandma and Aunt Kara bought heirloom tomatoes and melons and lettuce, we lions and Uncle Steven and James went to the wooden train in the play area. James really liked the bell on the locomotive! Now that James is walking, he doesn’t sit down much! James’ lion and I liked the places we found to sit on the train: in the gondola car and on the roof of the caboose!
Next we went to the wooden forts with slides. James didn’t like the slide very much, but we lions did! We decided to slide down together, and we got tangled at the bottom! Then we all went to visit the chickens in their coop. After that, we visited the sunflowers. There’s a whole row of them growing at Burnap’s!
On Saturday, James’ lion and I were still asleep when James said we had to get up. Annie’s parents were bringing her for another visit! It was good to see her again! We all put on our life jackets to go down to the dock, and Annie went for another ride on the motorboat with her mommy and some other friends of Uncle Steven’s. This time she liked the entire ride! Then James and Annie had a snack of peaches before everybody had hamburgers and corn on the cob for dinner. It was a busy afternoon! After Annie went home, we lions and James were happy to listen to Aunt Kara read a story and go to bed!
On Sunday morning, Grandma and Aunt Kara took James for a walk in the apple orchard, and we lions got to go along. The apples aren’t ripe yet, but the orchard is a nice, sunny place for James to practice walking a path through tall clover. He did a good job! On our way back, we lions found another nice place to sit — on our neighbor’s park bench.
When James took his nap, Uncle Steven got ready for a game of Settlers of Catan. James took a long nap, but we couldn’t finish the game before he woke up! After dinner, we all took a sunset boat ride. Grandpa let James help steer the boat! Then James went to bed and we finished the Settlers game. Aunt Kara won!
On Monday, it was cloudy and a little rainy. James’ lion and I were going to have a lion tea party, but James decided he wanted us to do something else, instead! Uncle Steven found the air leak in Uncle Bill’s inflatable Godzilla by spraying soapy water all over the seams. When the leak is fixed, Godzilla will be able to stand up for more than ten minutes without deflating! Grandma said she and Grandpa had been looking for the leak for a long time, so she was happy to know where it was! After that project, James’ lion and I borrowed a blanket from James so we could take a nap!
Tuesday was cloudy and misty on the bay, and it was time for James and Uncle Steven and Aunt Kara to leave. First, we had waffles on the porch. That’s James’ favorite breakfast! Then James said goodbye to his new duck friends and got a last swing ride with Grandpa. I was a good helper packing Uncle Steven’s car. When James travels, he brings lots of stuff! I waited until James was all set to go before I said goodbye.
I had a lot of fun with James and his lion!
Love,
Lion-san
We are glad you had a fun long weekend! James’ lion looks very much like you. James looks like he is getting bigger and he can do more!
