Hi, everyone!
It’s been almost a week since our last rainstorm, and we’ve had sunny days! In Fairport, the lawn dried out enough for me to visit my friends, the four leaf clovers. Grandma says finding one is supposed to bring you good luck. I wonder how much good luck I’ll have from finding a whole patch? My first good luck was last Tuesday. Grandma and Grandpa served dinner at Sodus for the people who made the scrapbook for Grandma’s choir directing anniversary celebration last March. There was heavy rain other places, but it didn’t rain at Sodus! We ate on the porch, and then Grandpa drove the boat for a sunset cruise. Everybody had a good time!
Then on Saturday we had good weather for the choir picnic, too! There were forty people here, plus Moose-san! I got to see lots of my friends from my trips to the Canadian Rockies and Michigan and Hawaii and Maine. Moose-san is getting to be friends with all of them, too!
Moose-san and I try to be good helpers for the choir party. Moose-san made sure there were lots of vegetable appetizers and I made sure Moose-san didn’t eat them all! Then we helped Joe-san take orders for hamburgers and cheeseburgers and hot dogs and chicken, so Grandpa would know how much to grill. There were some choir members who hadn’t had a chance to see Grandma’s anniversary scrapbook, so we helped them take a look. We tried to help organize the serving table, but there was a traffic jam, anyway! Then we made sure there were enough desserts to go around. Don’t they look yummy?
After dinner, Reverend Greg performed the parting of the red watermelon with his new slicer. It really works!
Some of my friends stayed overnight after the choir party. Moose-san and I went to Sodus Point to watch sunset before he went home with Joe-san and Nancy-san. Moose-san is going back to Maine soon, so I won’t see him again until September. It was good to share a sunset with him before he goes.
This morning, Grandma woke me up very early to watch the sun rise. We sat on the porch and listened to the birds singing to the morning. I thought about all my friends and the places I have been. I am a very lucky little lion, with or without my four leaf clovers!
Love,
Lion-san
What a fantistic sunrise! Yes, Lion-san we are all lucky to have so many friends, Moose-san too. After the hot weather Nancy-san will really want to go swimming in Maine. Mose-san said it was fun meeting all your travel buddies.
Hi Lion-san,
I enjoyed seeing you at the picnic. 40 people is a huge party! It was fun to chat with choir friends, but the best part is being by the water!
We will be visiting Moose-san next week. We are very lucky. I will send you a picture.
Your friend,
Julie
