Holy Week

Hi, everyone!
Yesterday was Easter, but today it’s snowing again! I don’t think that is a very nice April Fools trick for the weather to play on us!
We’ve just finished a very special week for Grandma and Grandpa’s church. Holy Week starts with Palm Sunday and ends with Easter. Grandma says Holy Week reminds us that love is more powerful than politics or even death.
The week before Palm Sunday, Grandma and Grandpa took me out to Sodus for the first time this season. There was still ice on the bay! We had a very pretty sunrise on Saturday before the sun hid in the clouds. When we came back into town, I found the first blooming crocus in Grandma and Grandpa’s yard. But then we had more snow! There was enough snow that Grandma gave me a snow bath! She let me roll around in the snow to get my fur clean, then she helped me scrub my paws with soap. After that, she rubbed me all over with a dryer sheet and used a hair dryer to dry my fur. So I was nice and clean for Palm Sunday. Grandma brought me a palm frond from the celebration at church.

All sorts of nice things happened during Holy Week. On Friday, James came to visit! Aunt Kara’s family has a tradition of visiting Lamberton Conservatory in Highland Park to see the Easter flowers during Holy Week every year. I got to go with James this year for his first visit! Highland Park is where I go to visit my lilac friends, but they won’t be in bloom for at least another month. It was fun to see all the flowers blooming inside! James and I watched the baby quail running around and looked at all the turtles. The turtles really like their heat lamps, even on sunny days in what is supposed to be spring!

On Easter, Grandma and Grandpa and I had Easter dinner with Moose-san and Joe-san and Nancy-san. Joe-san made fancy appetizers for us to eat first. Then we had the tagine Nancy-san made and finished up with the peach mousse with matcha sauce that Grandma brought. I’m glad Moose-san understands the difference between moose and mousse!

While Grandpa was in Thailand with us, he asked Nancy-san to take care of our Christmas cactus plant. Plants really like Nancy-san! Look at how pretty it is now! Nancy-san says she thinks it might really be an Easter cactus, and not a Christmas cactus.

Love,
Lion-san

  1. You are right, Lion-san, the snow wasn’t a nice April Fool”s joke! Oh well, Spring is coming. We have seeds started and we have a little yellow crocus and a lenten rose outside! Things may be a little late this year but maybe we’ll get better fruit!
It was nice having you over for Easter.
