Hi, everybody!
A week ago on Saturday we all went to the Lego Discovery Center in Tokyo. It’s just across the Rainbow Bridge near Tokyo Bay, and there is even a beach nearby! I was really excited to visit the Miniland, because I recognized models of some buildings we visited on our last visit to Japan. First we saw the Tokyo Tower, then Karin-chan and I found Asakusa. Then I found a model of an ATV to ride on that was just my size!
Bill-kun and Karin-chan got to go into the climbing and construction areas. I wasn’t tall enough to go with them, but I found a really big bunch of Legos to play with instead. Then I made friends with a Lego giraffe and a Lego elephant. Bill-kun spent some time at an individual building station, and Karin-chan found LOTS of cats in the Duplo building area.
Then Bill-kun and Karin-chan went to a master building class. Only their mommy and daddy could go with them, so Grandma and Grandpa took me to the 4D theater. The movie was really fun to watch!
I wanted to take Bill-kun and Karin-chan to the movie, but it was time to go home. Bill-kun went to a sleepover at his preschool, and Karin-chan and I took a nap. We wanted to be able to stay up to watch the big fireworks display on television, just like I did on July Fourth!
Sunday was our last full day together in Japan. It was very hot out, but Bill-kun and Karin-chan sat in their back yard on their new lawn chairs under their new folding umbrella. When it got dark, we got to do our own fireworks! Bill-kun and Karin-chan were very careful with their sparklers!
On Monday, Bill-kun and Karin-chan’s daddy took Grandma and Grandpa and me for a walk on a very special footpath! Grandpa says the Tama-Yokoyama foot path was first mentioned in a poem written 1300 years ago, and it runs right past Bill-kun and Karin-chan’s house! We only had time to walk a short part of the path before we had to pack to leave.
Bill-kun and Karin-chan and their daddy drove us to the Haruhino train station. After that, Grandpa and Grandma and I took a local train, changed to a another train to Shinjuku, and changed train lines to get the express train to the airport. Grandma and I managed to get most of our photos captioned on the way to the airport. Before we boarded our plane, we had a yummy tempura lunch. I got one more chance to practice with chopsticks! I wanted to take the Hello Kitty plane, but Grandma said it was going the wrong way to get us back to Fairport.
Now I’m back at Grandma and Grandpa’s house. I’m glad to be back, but I miss playing with Bill-kun and Karin-chan! Bill-kun gave us a goodbye card, and I’m holding on to that!
Love,
Lion-san
