Going Fourth!

Hi, everyone!
After James and I went to the National Zoo, the weather in Washington DC started to get really hot! We only got to go on one more walk before it got too warm for babies to be outside. James’ Grandma Ginny came to visit, so James had another nice place to take a nap.

On Friday, it was 100 degrees at noon! Friday night, there was a very big thunderstorm, and lots of people lost their electric power. We were lucky to keep ours, so we could stay inside and be cool.
Grandma and Grandpa wanted to visit the Air Force Memorial, so we walked over on July 3rd in the morning before it got too hot. Nobody else was around! We could see the edge of Arlington Cemetery right across the road. I got to read the inscriptions on all the panels, then Grandma let me sit at the base of one of the spires so I could think about everything I had read. By the time we walked back, I was ready for a nap!

It was still hot on the Fourth of July! James had a special outfit to wear, and Aunt Kara decorated the front steps with American flags. In the evening, Aunt Kara and Uncle Steven walked over to the Air Force Memorial to watch the fireworks display. Lots of people try to park on the street by their house to go to see the fireworks, so there is a big traffic jam! James and I stayed home with Grandma and Grandpa. James learned how to make all the toys on his play mat move by batting the closest one with his hand. We watched the fireworks on TV and stayed cool!

The next day, it was time to go back to New York with Grandma and Grandpa. When I said goodbye to James, I could see how much he has grown already. He is bigger and longer than when we visited him the first time, or even at the beginning of this visit!

The very next day after we got back to Grandma and Grandpa’s, we went out to Sodus to get ready for the choir party. Look what I found, tied to our dock! Dawn Treader came for the party, too! There was rain the morning of the party, but by the time people came, the weather was perfect for visiting outside and sailing. Moose-san came with Joe-san and Nancy-san, and we enjoyed sitting on the porch for most of the party. We were good helpers at dessert time, making sure that everything was yummy!

After the choir party, Joe-san and Nancy-san and Moose-san stayed to watch the sun set at Sodus Point. We’ve had a lot of pretty sunsets this year!

Love,
Lion-san
