Labor Day

Hi, Everyone!
I had a really good time over Labor Day weekend!

It’s the middle of fresh peach season, and when Grandma and I went to the farm market, we found some special peaches. Don’t they look yummy? We were getting ready for Uncle Steven and Aunt Kara to come to Sodus for the weekend. And guess what? They brought Kara’s mom along too!We had waffles on the porch on Friday morning, and then Uncle Steven and Aunt Kara went kayaking. While I was waiting for them on the dock, the weed harvester came. I was happy that we got our weeds cut just in time for the holiday weekend. The weed harvester lady even stopped to say hello to me!

Then I helped Grandma get ready for our special weekend project. First, we had to roast some peppers so Grandma could make piperade. That’s the sauce that goes at the bottom of a dish of Remy’s ratatouille. Then, Uncle Steven and I showed Aunt Kara and Aunt Kara’s mom the movie of Ratatouille. Then we made ratatouille, just like Remy did in the movie. Grandpa sliced all the vegetables, and I showed Aunt Kara how to stack the slices. Uncle Steven is really good at getting a lot of slices into his dish!

While the ratatouille was baking, Aunt Kara took me for a ride on the swing. Uncle Steven gave us a push, so we went really high! After that, Grandpa, Kara’s mom and I enjoyed some quiet time on the porch. Grandma used some of the special peaches to make a sour cream peach pie, and I helped serve it when Uncle Steven and Aunt Kara invited friends to come for dinner. Everybody thought the ratatouille and peach pie were yummy!

After Uncle Steven and Aunt Kara went home, Grandma took me to church to see my picture in the photo gallery. I feel famous! And then Grandpa finished working on the deck and Grandma finished staining the house. When Grandpa had the decking off the deck to repair the supports underneath, Chuckie the chipmunk was very confused! He lives in a burrow under the deck, and all of a sudden he didn’t have a roof anymore! When Grandpa put the deck back together, I checked to make sure that Chuckie still had a way to get from his knot hole to his burrow without running into the new supports.

Love,
Lion-san
