Even More California!

Hi, Everyone!
On Sunday, Grandma helped Moose-san and me blog about our San Francisco adventures before Grandpa’s birthday dinner. On Monday, we all had breakfast at the hotel with Aunt Kara and Uncle Steven. I helped Grandma make waffles with strawberries for everybody. Then Moose-san and I helped Grandma pack a box of coffee and jelly beans. We took it to the post office to mail so we didn’t have to carry it on the flight home.

After we checked out of the hotel, we all went to the Embarcadero. That’s the part of San Francisco right next to the bay, where boats can dock. It was a nice, sunny day, so we all went out on one of the public piers to look at the water. Joe-san helped me show Moose-san Treasure Island and the Bay Bridge. There was no traffic jam on the bridge today!
Then we made friends with an artist. She was drawing a picture of the bridge, and she put Joe-san and Moose-san and me in it! Next, we had lunch at Slanted Door restaurant, in the Ferry Building. Slanted Door serves Vietnamese-style food. Joe-san tried to show Moose-san and me how to use chopsticks, but using them is hard with little lion paws and really hard with little moose hooves! After lunch, Nancy-san took us to see the Cowgirl Creamery cheese store in the Ferry Building while Joe-san and Grandpa bought bread at Acme Bakery to take home on the plane.

From the Ferry Building, we drove further around the shoreline to Fisherman’s Wharf and went to another bakery. Boudin Bakery makes bread in fancy shapes. Moose-san and I made friends with bread lobsters and crabs and alligators. We got to watch the bakers working and looked through the microscope at the germ that gives sourdough bread its special taste. I was a good helper and got samples of two kinds of bread for Moose-san to try. They were both yummy!

After all that food, we took a long walk in the Golden Gate Park Botanical Garden and saw lots of pretty flowers. We visited the native California wildflowers meadow. I was excited to show Moose-san flowers like my protea flower friends in Hawaii. And guess what? We found more friendly cobra plants!

By the time we had visited all the gardens, we were hungry again. We went to Flour and Water restaurant and shared two kinds of pasta and a yummy pizza for supper. No chopsticks!
On our way to the airport, we stopped to see Bill-kun and Karin-chan’s friends, Momoko and Atom. Momoko showed Moose-san and me her dollhouse. Moose-san and I played with Momoko and Atom until it was time to go to the airport and get right on the plane.

It was way past bedtime by then, so Moose-san and I went right to sleep on the plane. When we woke up, we were landing in Chicago and the sun was just coming up!

Now I’m back at Grandma and Grandpa’s, and I’m not planning any more big trips for a while. Moose-san is going back to Maine with Joe-san and Nancy-san, so he’ll have lots of adventures to share when I see him again!
Love,
Lion-san
