Hi, Everyone!
When Grandma and Grandpa took me out to Sodus Bay on Friday, I couldn’t find it! The fog was so thick that we couldn’t see across the bay. But after an hour or so, the fog wore away and it was a nice, sunny afternoon. Grandma’s azaleas and rhododendrons are starting to bloom, too.
My best buds Joe-san and Nancy-san came out to stay with us. On Saturday, we all helped Grandpa put the marine railway in the water. The water in the bay is very high, and there was a wind blowing that made big waves, too. Grandpa said this year was the hardest ever to get the rails in! Even though he had brand new waders that came up to his chest, he got really wet and cold. It was so chilly I had to wear the hat I got at Uncle Steven and Aunt Kara’s wedding. I tried to be a good helper by holding ropes and helping Grandpa get his boots off. After all that hard work, everybody took a rest. Joe-san and I read a cookbook with lots of yummy recipes. Then I helped Nancy-san knit some mittens.
Grandma made a sour cream sour cherry pie and I helped her weave the strips of pie crust for the lattice top crust. We baked the leftover scraps with cinnamon sugar on them. Grandma says her grandma called that “johnny cake”. I made sure there was a piece left to serve to Joe-san!
At dinnertime, I helped serve the artichoke lemon basil pesto appetizer on bagel chips. That made my tummy hungry! Then I helped Grandma make a crowned cauliflower to go with the pork tenderloin that Grandpa grilled outside. Doesn’t dinner look good? But we all saved room to eat the pie for dessert!
Love,
Lion-san
