Hi, Everyone!
Last Sunday, Harlan and Katie came out to Sodus to help Grandma and Grandpa put the dock in the water. We’ve had so much rain that the water level is really high! Grandma says maybe that will help keep the blue-green algae away this year. I hope so! While we were cleaning weeds out of the boathouse, I met a snake. Katie doesn’t like snakes, but this one was very polite and didn’t bother us.
This week, a big box came from Thailand. It was full of all the things Grandma couldn’t fit in her suitcase to bring home in March. It was fun remembering everything we did while we were there.
It finally stopped raining, and it feels like everything outside suddenly turned green or started to bloom. We had flowers inside, too, because Uncle Steven and Bill and Karin’s daddy both sent Mothers Day flowers to Grandma. Aren’t they pretty?
Saturday, Grandma and I got out in the kayak for our first paddle of the year. The water was still very cold, but we saw herons and swans and geese. There were redwing blackbirds in the little creek south of Grass Point. After our kayak trip, we took a walk in the woods to see the spring wildflowers. This jack-in-the-pulpit was just opening up. When we drove back to Fairport, I took a nap right away so I could stay up for the jazz party at church!
Grandma Sue-san invited me and Grandpa and Grandma to sit at her table for the jazz party. When I got there, I saw Moose-san! He was invited, too, and came with Joe-san and Nancy-san. We sat together to listen to the pretty music. My friend Deb-san sang one song with the band.
During intermission, Joe-san helped me write a song request on the list for the band to play. I asked for “Kitten on the Keys”. Then I got a chance to get a hug from Deb-san and to make friends with the Jazz-sans. Rod Jazz-san plays the piano and Gabe Jazz-san plays guitar. They are very good at what they do!
Then Brad Jazz-san showed me how to play the drums! He is a very good teacher! I think I’ll be able to play Rock Star with Bill-kun next time I see him! After intermission, Rod Jazz-san did play “Kitten on the Keys” for me. Papa Dick-san helped me show how much I liked it. Moose-san and I were able to stay awake for the entire party, even though it was WAY past our bedtimes!
Love,
Lion-san
