Hi, Everyone!
The rain did stop long enough for me to get out to make friends with the April flowers. Aren’t they pretty? The red tulips are friends with my favorite sunbeam, too. Look how they open up when our sunbeam comes around!
On Saturday, my friends Mike-san and Averil-san came to visit. Mike-san showed me his brand new car. It’s a lot like the one Grandpa drives. Averil-san brought us some chocolate Easter eggs she made. They look yummy! Grandma says we can tell what flavor is inside by looking at the color of the flower on top.
My best buds Joe-san and Nancy-san came to have dinner with us on Easter. I was a good helper making dinner. I watched while Grandpa put the temperature probe in the lamb roast, so we could make sure it got done the way we wanted it. Then I stirred up a big batch of honey balsamic mint sauce to serve with the lamb. I had to be careful not to get my paws sticky doing that! After that, I helped Grandma get a big pan of red potatoes ready to oven roast.
When everything was ready, Grandpa carved the lamb and we had a yummy dinner. Joe-san and Nancy-san brought a grape pie that Nancy-san made. I had to be REALLY careful not to get grape pie on my fur or paws! A purple spotted lion would look silly, even on Easter!
I asked Grandma why Easter is so special and happy for followers of Christ. Grandma says Easter reminds her of the power of love to keep us connected, when we are separated by distance or even death. The spring flowers and Easter eggs are reminders of renewing life. That’s hard for a little lion to understand. I do know that I love Bill-kun and Karin-chan and all my friends just as much whether they’re here, or in San Francisco, or in Japan!
Love,
Lion-san
