Thailand!

Hi, Everyone!

Guess where Grandma and I are now!  We’re in Thailand!  Grandma brought me along on a big adventure.  She is teaching people here who do the same kind of job she does in Rochester.  This was the longest plane ride I have ever been on — even longer than the trip to Australia. I got to play in the Rochester airport before we got on the first plane.  In Chicago, I helped Grandma on the computer before we got on the plane to Tokyo.  By the time we got to Bangkok it was the next day, and almost the day after that!  I was very tired.  As soon as I made friends with Elephant-san, I went right to bed.  (Elephant-san’s job is to let the housekeeping staff know whether to put new sheets on the bed.  So we can’t play together on the bed during the day or I’d have new sheets every night!)

On Sunday, Grandma met with the other teacher who is helping her and let me sleep very late.  But on Monday, we got up early and went exploring.  We found the nearest ATM, and two 7-11s and the post office.  But best of all, we found Grandpa’s favorite kind of Thai street food – coconut dumplings! When Grandpa comes to join us, I’ll know right where to take him.  Then we rode around on the tram.  We’re staying in a hotel on the campus of Mahidol University.  The tram takes students to most of the buildings on this very big campus.

Today, Grandma taught most of the day, but then we went out to visit some places we’d seen from the tram yesterday.  I made friends with a flock of concrete geese, then went to visit the scarecrow at the organic garden.  Don’t the greens and roots look good?  Then we went to the track, so I could sit on the rainbow bleachers.  There’s supposed to be a big botanic garden here, too, but Grandma and I haven’t found it yet.  I was surprised to find a kangaroo here, because it’s a long way to hop from Australia.

It’s warm and humid here, with lots of tropical bird sounds.  Grandpa said it was -7 degrees F. in Rochester yesterday.  I’m glad I’m here, instead!  Little Lions love this kind of weather.

Love,

Lion-san
