Hi, Everyone!
Grandma let me stay up really late to celebrate the beginning of the New Year. I took a nap while Grandma and Grandpa went out to see a show, then lots of my friends came back here to have a late dinner. I visited with everybody while they ate dinner, then I helped Nancy-san cut the chocolate cheesecake for dessert. Yum!
After dinner, we watched TV to see the celebration in New York City. Right at midnight, I got to have a drink of sparkling juice. Grandma says toasting the New Year with something bubbly is a tradition. Having something bubbly with my best buddies was lots of fun.
On New Years Day, I was a good helper while Grandma undecorated the Christmas tree. First, we took all the decorations off the tree and put them on the table. There are a LOT of ornaments! I said goodbye to the moose ornament for the year before I helped pack him away in a box. It took us all day to pack up the ornaments, so we didn’t take the tree out of the house until Sunday. I helped Grandpa do that. See how we wrapped up the tree so we didn’t get pine needles all over the house? I made sure the rope stayed tied around the tree.
Grandma says sometimes people use the New Year as a time to make resolutions — promises to make changes in their lives. My resolution is to keep on having adventures with Grandma and Grandpa. I think the next one will be Uncle Steven and Kara’s wedding, and I don’t have to wait long for that!
Love,
Lion-san
