Autumn and Apples

Hi, Everyone!

Now that I’m back from Maine, I’ve been showing Moose-san some of my favorite things in New York.  Last Saturday at Sodus, we had a very busy day!  We got up early so Moose-san could watch sunrise with me.  Grandma invited some doctoral students from the School of Nursing to come out and make apple pies.  Moose-san helped me set the table for lunch, but then he started to feel shy and didn’t help with the pies.

Grandma sent the students out to pick apples at a nearby orchard, and they came back with really nice ones.  After we ate lunch, everybody started peeling apples.  When we had enough apples peeled and sliced for the first pie, some students started making pie crust and others began to roll it out.  I helped out everywhere.   We made thirteen apple pies!  We baked and ate the first one, and it was yummy!  After the students took their pies home and we cleaned up, Moose-san and I really needed a nap.

During the week, Grandma helped me finish my new book about cruising in Europe.  Then we took it to the post office to mail it to Bill-kun for his birthday.  Grandma helped me fill out the paperwork.

Grandpa has been rebuilding the deck by the boathouse.  All of the supports were rotten, so the nails holding the decking down were pulling out.  Bouncy deck is just as scary as bouncy bridge!  Now that Grandpa has replaced all the support beams, I’ve been helping with the spacing shims between the deck boards and the drill holes for the screws to hold everything together.

Today, I finally got to meet Kara.  She and Uncle Steven drove to Rochester for the weekend to make more plans for their wedding.  There are lots of details to think about!

Love,

Lion-san

  1. Hi Lion-San,
It was a great day, I remember! The apple pie I took back was so good and eaten up by my roommate, friends and me at that Saturday night. Almost everyone said “I love it!”. Thank Lion-San! You made me a day!
Hope you have a good winter!
