Hi, Everyone!
Sodus Bay is full of blue-green algae! It makes the water look icky! Grandma and Grandpa have never seen it before. The newspaper and television stories say it’s because of the very warm, shallow water conditions. They say it could make children and small animals (including little lions) sick, so I have to stay away and make sure I keep my paws clean. It doesn’t smell very nice, either!
We’re having a nice weekend, anyway. Even though the water is yucky, the air is very clear. Friday night, we could see the power plant 30 miles away from the lighthouse pier. We remembered to take our binoculars, so we got a very good view. We had a beautiful moonrise after the sun went down, too.
Averil-San and Mike-San, who took me to Maine last year, are spending the weekend with us. I helped Averil-san figure out where the border pieces fit in a jigsaw puzzle, and she showed me how to do a yoga inversion. Then I helped serve crackers and cheese before dinner and Grandpa grilled a chicken. We had corn on the cob, too. See me all ready to get mine? Then we took Mike-san and Averil-san out in the boat out to watch another sunset.
But the best thing that happened this weekend was a phone call from Uncle Steven. He asked Kara to marry him and she said yes! We are all excited and very happy for them both. We had lots of questions about their wedding plans, but Uncle Steven said we’ll have to be patient as they take one step at a time.
Grandma says it’s traditional to give the bride something blue for her wedding day, but I don’t think Kara would like blue-green algae. Do you suppose they’ll ask me to be best-lion?
Love,
Lion-san
