Thai Basil Pesto

Hi, Everyone!

Grandma and I decided to make pesto out of the  Thai basil Grandma grows.  Thai basil doesn’t smell or taste quite like regular basil, so we needed to find special ingredients to go with the special taste.  Grandma took me to F. Oliver’s oil and vinegar shop in Canandaigua so we could find just the right kind of oil to use.  Continue reading “Thai Basil Pesto”

Sunday in New York

Hi, Everyone!

I’m back in New York, having an at-home adventure with Grandma and Grandpa.  The first day I got back, Grandma baked my favorite sticky buns for breakfast.  Yum!  Yum!  Then I helped Taylor and Danny do a jigsaw puzzle.  That was hard work, so I had to take a nap.  After dinner, Grandma and Grandpa took me to the lighthouse to watch the sunset.

Yesterday Was The Best Day Yet

Hi, Everyone!

Yesterday was great fun! The best day ever!! We went kayaking out on Lake Michigan, all the way down to a place called Petobego Pond. A lot of birds live there, and they were all singing at once to welcome us when we got there! After our kayak ride we went to see a real lighthouse right at the very tip of Old Mission Penninsula. My Day in Charlevoix

Hi, Everyone!

Yesterday we spent the whole day in Charlevoix. It was a lot of fun! We saw lots of boats, a bridge going up for the boats to go underneath, and we didn’t have to do too much shopping. Charlevoix has a neat playground right on the beach, with swings, and slides, and a big duck to ride! I did my duty with a turn at life guarding all the swimmers on the beach. Then we went to see these Lion-San sized houses. They were pretty neat to see!  Did you know I’m big enough to order lunch off the menu myself now! And I can take my friends for a walk out on the pier.

Looking for Treasure on the Beach

Hi, Everyone!

This is me looking for Petoskey Stones on the beach yesterday with my friends. Look at the whopper I found! Did you ever see such a big Petoskey Stone? WOW!

Today, we’re off to see the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes. I can’t wait to see how much the sand dunes have changed since last year!

Summer in Elk Rapids, Michigan

Hi, Everyone!

I’m having a swell time here in Elk Rapids, Michigan!  The Pixley summer cottage is on Grand Traverse Bay, which you may remember is part of Lake Michigan.

It is fun to see old friends again. Today I saw Monster Rock again, still sitting out in the bay right in front of the Pixley cabin. Continue reading “Summer in Elk Rapids, Michigan”
