Hi, everyone!
Friday last week, Grandma and Grandpa took me to the Point for sunset. There were layers of clouds! Then, on Saturday, James had his belated birthday / tubing party.
After tubing and snacks and hamburgers and birthday cake, James and his friends were on their phones!

Grandma harvested basil at the bay and brought it back to town to make pesto. Our back yard neighbor had lots of basil, too, so we made three batches of pesto last Monday! We shared some of it with our back yard neighbor. She told us it was yummy!

Uncle Steven gave us some peaches, so Grandma and I made a sour cream peach pie on Thursday. We do this every year about this time, when the local peaches are ripe. Grandma peeled the peaches, then I helped cut them up. Then I helped stir the sour cream and sugar mixture that goes on top! I helped make the crust, too! I had to be very careful not to get my paws messy! When it was baked, we invited Uncle Steven and Thomas over for dessert.

This morning, Grandma woke up my entire pride and said we were going on an adventure! It was a cool, sunny, morning. Grandma said that was a perfect time to go to the Sunflower Festival at Wickham Farms. I was happy I could show my pride the sunflowers! We got there just as the staff was opening up!

The sunflower fields are on top of the hill, and there’s a tractor hay ride to take us there. We were the only riders on the first trip! We made friends with the tractor driver and the hosts at the end of the ride!

There was a nice tent where you could buy cut flowers and some chairs where we rested. Then we started walking through the sunflower fields. We all wanted to find the sunflower that looked most like us! Katie’s lion and James’ lion found some right away!

I had to keep looking! I knew there were varieties that looked more like me, but we had to walk around to find where they were blooming.

My lookalike sunflowers were growing near the observation deck, so that’s where we went next! We could see that some of the fields were in full bloom, and some wouldn’t be in bloom until next week.

On our way back to the hay ride stop, we had two more tractor photo ops and rode on a hobby horse. We made friends with a bear, too. The hay ride tractor wasn’t around, so we walked down through the corn fields.

Before we left, we went to the playground. We watched the singing tractor, then we tried the tractor pull. Even with all three of us pulling, we couldn’t move the great big tractor!

Then we took a look at the zipline. Katie’s lion and James’ lion decided not to try it, but I did!

We checked out the climber next to the zipline. On our way out, we stopped at the corn floor. We decided to stay in our travel bag so we wouldn’t get corn in the car for the ride home!

Tonight, I’m back at the bay. Grandma and Grandpa took me to sunset again. It was a pretty sunset, but I’m ready for bed after a busy day!

Love,
Lion-san
Lion-san, I enjoyed this issue of your blog more than any I’ve ever seen in the past. I think the visit to the sunflower farm was a splendid idea with so many places for you to stop and rest and have your picture taken. I can only imagine the effort Grandma makes to carry you around, set you in place, and take your picture repeatedly and then compose it all into a blog. That is obviously a lot of work. She is so dedicated! That sour cream peach pie looks delicious. Yesterday we bought corn, tomatoes, grapes, enormous radishes, peaches. Perhaps we bought too much so maybe we’ll freeze some of the corn for winter use. Anyway I loved this issue of your blog. Great Aunt Betsy
What a wonderful day you and your pride had! The sunflowers were a joy to see and my mouth is watering just to imagine how good the peach pie must have been. Congratulations for being brave enough to ride the zip line – that will be a memory to cherish!
